Is the original poster notified of a merged post?

When we get posts that we believe are repeated questions or feature requests we merge them to a particular post with the answer or main feature tracking post.

Now the question... Will the merge notify the user that it was merged to a particular post? Or do we need to reply to them and than merge so they know their question or feature request has been handled?
