Categories functionality has changed?

Has the 'categorisation' function changed? Now I can only assign a sub-category to a post, not the top-level category.

I.e. if i have:
Category - Fruit
            -Apple
            -Banana

I might sometimes want to use just 'Fruit' as the category but I can't click it anymore...

We start using html tag <optgroup> in comboboxes.
And looks like that groups not selectable now.

At this moment you can change group after feedback saved.
Feedback->Actions->Assign category

We looking for solution now.

Any update on this, guys? A couple of users have mentioned it. Workaround is to only have main categories not sub-categories, but that's not ideal.

We made customized combobox especially for your forum. 
Now you can select category of any level.
Later we upgrade our combos for more stylish view.
