Prevent negative voting - make voting easier.

I don't want users to be able to "downvote" an idea with a negative vote. Not sure if there Is a already a way to disable this.


Also, If you prevent negative voting, then you would only need a single vote button. Right now. clicking on the vote count does nothing. It should increase the votes. The whole process in not intuitive. I think a single vote button is better. Similar to other sites. Like FaceBook has a "Like" button. After you have liked it you can "Unlike" it. One button, that's it.


You have the text: "vote" under the vote count, but when I click on it, I can't vote.

We consider about adding this feature it's will be available on forum level. It's will be possible to set only positive voting.

At this moment it's possible to set ordering by up-votes it's allow to see most popular voted positive feedback.

Here is an example of an excellent website to look at. People are expecting this type of voting experience: http://lithosphere.lithium.com/t5/Suggest-Your-Ideas/idb-p/Lithium_Ideas

  • Voting up is a single click.
  • After you have voted, the voting button is grey out so you cannot vote again and is obvious that you have voted.
  • Clicking on the vote count number shows who voted. (I'm not sure I like this to be a public feature but it would be a nice option). UserEcho has this already but only for Admins. And it's located elsewhere.
  • Removing your vote cannot be done by accident. You have to remove vote by selecting from the Idea Exchange Option selector. It is too easy on UserEcho, to remove vote by accident. Clicking on vote count number removes vote, Clicking it again does not add vote. :(

Also take a look at Uservoice. It also has single up-vote button.


I love UserEcho and am supporting your platform and efforts. I want the platform to be better. I also think the UserEcho team is awesome!

Thanks again for quality suggestion. We start investigation in this direction.

Technically it's easy to add this feature now we thinking about usability and visual aspect of this new feature.

Got some real feedback from one of my customers:


"The vote up, vote down, vote 0 concept is somewhat confusing.  People will most likely try to click the vote bubble to try to vote for it, but this actually makes your vote to 0.  Not sure if changing it would be better, but just an observation. "

How about replacing the "report..." link with a "more..." and show the following choices:

- report
- remove vote
- show voters (this from another idea)
