Generating a HAR file for troubleshoting

If you're experiencing trouble using UserEcho on the web, it can be helpful for our support team if you can generate a HAR file and then send it to us. A HAR file shows additional information about the network requests that are generated in your browser while an issue occurs. It's easier than it sounds and it helps us quickly understand what is going on. Below are the instructions for creating the file. After it's been generated, please add it as an attachment to your support email. Keep in mind that HAR files contain sensitive data.
How to generate a HAR file for Chrome:
- Open Google Chrome and go to the page where the issue is occurring.
- From the Chrome menu bar, select View > Developer > Developer Tools
- From the panel, open at the bottom (or side) of your screen, select the Network tab
- Look for a round Record button in the upper left corner of the Network tab, and make sure it is red. If it is grey, click it once to start recording.
- Check the box next to Preserve log
- Click the Clear button (crossed out circle) to clear out any existing logs from the Network tab
- Try reproducing the issue that you were experiencing before, while the network requests are being recorded
- Once you have reproduced the issue, right click anywhere on the grid of network requests, select Save as HAR with Content and save the file to your computer
- Attach the file to your email or helpdesk ticket with us and send it over so that we can take a look
How to generate a HAR file for Firefox:
- Make sure you're using Firefox 41 or higher
- Start Firefox Developer Tools in Network mode (Click on the top right menu > Developer > Network, or ctrl-shift-Q)
- Try reproducing the issue that you were experiencing before
- Save the capture by right-clicking on the grid and choosing "Save all as HAR"
- Attach the file to your email or helpdesk ticket with us and send it over so that we can take a look
